(Manchester, NH) – In today's Business and Industry Association debate at St. Anselm College, Jeanne Shaheen drew a clear contrast between John Sununu's rhetoric and his record of action in Washington.
"It's interesting to hear John Sununu talk about fiscal responsibility when he has supported George Bush down the line on the fiscally irresponsible economic policies that have gotten us where we are today," Shaheen said. "He has voted for every single one of George Bush's budgets, which have doubled our national debt to over $10 trillion. He has voted to give billions in tax breaks to Big Oil while they are making the biggest profits in the history of business. He has supported unprecedented spending on no-bid contracts in Iraq for companies that fail to perform. And now he supports an $850 billion bailout bill that includes hundreds of millions in wasteful pork spending and will add $112 billion to budget deficits over the next five years."
