(Manchester, NH) -- The Jeanne Shaheen for Senate campaign today announced that it raised over $2.2 million in the third quarter of 2008, breaking the record for the most money raised by a candidate for federal office in New Hampshire. Shaheen for Senate held the previous record -- $1.6 million, which it raised during the second quarter of 2008.
"I am thrilled and humbled by the overwhelming support we have seen from people looking for real change this November," Shaheen said. "We desperately need a new direction in this country. We need to return to fiscal responsibility and to economic polices that put middle class families and small businesses first. But if we want that new direction, we need a new Senator."
In the third quarter of 2008, Shaheen for Senate:
*Raised over $2.2 million, the most of any candidate for federal office in New Hampshire's history.
*Received donations from over 11,000 individual donors.
*Received 84% of donations from small-dollar donors who can continue to give to the campaign. The average donation was $148.
