Debate Doubletalk: In AARP Debate, Sununu Claims To Protect Taxpayer Dollars, Yet Votes For Record Levels Of Reckless Spending In Washington
Monday October 20, 2008

(Manchester, NH) – In this morning's AARP debate, John Sununu told the people of New Hampshire, "I'll always vote to protect your money."

But in Washington, he's voted down the line with George Bush on fiscal policies that have doubled the national debt to over $10 trillion, created the largest budget deficit in American history and devastated the economy for New Hampshire families and small businesses.

"Now that there are two weeks left before Election Day, John Sununu is playing as fast and loose with the truth about his record as he has with taxpayer dollars down in Washington," said Kate Bedingfield, communications director for Jeanne Shaheen for Senate.  "He tells the people of New Hampshire one thing, but his 12 year record in Congress says something very different.  John Sununu has supported reckless spending and fiscal irresponsibility that has turned our economy upside down and made it harder for New Hampshire families and small businesses to get by."
