To kick-start our GOTV program, we will be having Get Out the Vote Trainings all over the state this week. This is a great opportunity to learn about our program, and learn how you can best help elect Barack Obama, Jeanne Shaheen, and all our great Democratic candidates during the most critical period of our campaign.
We need your help in these last crucial days. So come into your office and sign up to help on Election Day or over the weekend. If you’ve been volunteering already - volunteering on Election Day ensures that all of the hard work you’ve done over the past weeks and months pays off. If you haven’t made it into the office yet - this week is the perfect time to start.
To find out how you can get involved - email volunteer@nhdp.org or call 603-644-4724.

Last Tuesday, on their way to register voters in Plymouth, Molly Shaheen and (newly-minted Team Shaheen volunteer) Anna swung by Rye to knock on local doors with Rye’s State Representative, Otto Grote. After having some great conversations with voters around town, Molly and Otto paused for a photo in front of the burning embers of foliage and a clear blue sky.
Rep. Grote is up for re-election after his first term in the NH Legislature, and is a member of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. He’s served his community superbly, and is working hard to keep doing so long after November 5th.
Seacoast for Shaheen, Rye for Grote!

The excitement over the two Senate candidates was clearly on display today. John Sununu was holding a meet and greet at the North Hampton town hall, and only his supporters were allowed entry to the event.
It was quite the contrast from the event I attended earlier in the day. Residents from around the region flocked to Exeter to meet their future Senator, Jeanne Shaheen. People crowded into the Loaf and Ladle for a chance to meet her. Folks were out on the street waving signs and received a chorus of honks in response. There was an undeniable sense of excitement in the air. These people know that our country needs a new direction and they know Jeanne Shaheen will be the one to bring it to us. Judging from the differences in these two events, they are not the only ones!

Over 150 canvassers were treated to a special visit by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick at the coordinated campaign office in Portsmouth today! Governor Patrick was joined by State House Speaker Terri Norelli, State Senator Martha Fuller Clark, and all our great supporters as he spoke about the urgent need for a new direction in Washington. Fired up by the Governor’s message, many volunteers eagerly signed up for election week activities and sat down for a second shift on the phones!
Thanks to Governor Patrick for stopping by!

Few activities could make a 5:00AM start of the day rewarding. However, the Portsmouth contingent of Team Shaheen managed to knock off not one, but two of these elusive tasks from our collective To-Do list.

First and foremost, we want to thank our volunteers for helping us to greet Governor Shaheen early in the morning for her address to the Portsmouth Rotary. Brisk October mornings and slippery dew drops posed no match for Gov. Shaheen’s grassroots supporters.
16 volunteers (and staff!) warmed up the off-ramp to the Wentworth By The Sea hotel for Gov. Shaheen’s arrival. My camera-phone doesn’t really do the event justice, but here’s a snapshot of us looking perky despite the early hour.
To reward ourselves for overwhelmingly outshining “another” candidate’s supporters (none could be found), some of the Team undertook the second task mentioned above: breakfast at The Golden Egg in Rye.
See you at the next event!

Last Wednesday, families gathered from throughout Manchester to welcome the Circus into town.
A crowd lined south Elm St. as people awaited the parade of elephants, clowns, horses, and ponies making their way to the arena.

Shaheen supporters and staff greeted the fans with colorful Jeanne Shaheen signs. Our slogan for the day was: “Love elephants - Vote for Donkeys!” The parade was a fun time for all; it was like being a kid again…..except a kid who will proudly vote for Jeanne Shaheen for Senate!
To get involved with future visibilities or other activities, call our Manchester regional office at (603) 782-4626. We can’t wait to see you!

Last Monday, Molly Shaheen was in Hanover to help the Dartmouth Democrats kick off the General Election campaign season at Dartmouth College.
Molly started her visit by meeting with various student leaders. She then attended a Hanover Democratic Meeting with Dartmouth Democrats, State Representatives, the candidate for State Senate and the County Chair. The meeting was very helpful as they brainstormed ways to reach out to inactive students in the area.
After that it was off to the Dartmouth Democratic Kickoff Meeting. There was a great audience of about 100 students, all very eager to be involved in the coming weeks. The students were very excited about the Shaheen Campaign, as Molly fired them up for a dorm canvass held that night. We received over 60 sign ups from the event, thanks to Molly’s enthusiastic speech. It was a great day and it really showed the strong support for Jeanne Shaheen in Hanover.

Check out our fantastic visibility Wednesday afternoon in Rindge. We were sixteen strong and one in two cars honked/waved when they passed by - which is incredible!
Rindge is known as a traditionally conservative town and I think that our cheerful display of the Democratic candidates was very effective in showing public support for Democrats. Once again, thank you all so much for the support it’s much appreciated.
