NASHUA, N.H. — New Hampshire Democrats running for office held an election eve rally in Manchester, pushing for Granite Staters to cast their ballots Tuesday.

U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen called on New Hampshire – and all Americans – to vote President Donald Trump out of office and vote Democrats down the ticket.

“We’ve got to end this nightmare, and we’re going to do that tomorrow,” the senior senator from New Hampshire said. “Not only are we going to throw Donald Trump out of the White House and restore compassion and effectiveness and honesty with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, we’re going to send Mitch McConnell packing and flip the Senate.”

U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, running for reelection, told Boston 25 News the coronavirus pandemic is top of mind for New Hampshire voters. The virus has killed 480 Granite Staters and crushed the small businesses that make up New Hampshire’s economy. Pappas believes healthcare and the economy are the biggest issues for voters in his home state.

“It’s making sure we stop playing politics with the Affordable Care Act, the pandemic and make sure this economy moves forward without leaving anybody behind,” Pappas said. “There are a lot folks who are struggling right now and need help. We’re trying to keep our Main Street economy afloat with these really tough winter months ahead.”

Pappas is confident the swing state will give its four electoral votes to former Vice President Joe Biden.

“I think Joe Biden is going to carry New Hampshire,” Pappas said. “Democrats, Independents and even some Republicans are ready for change in Washington, and they trust Joe Biden. They know he brings decency back to our political system.”

U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster, too, called for better federal management of the pandemic.

“Your healthcare and the safety and wellbeing of your family is on the ballot,” Kuster said. “Joe Biden has a plan for COVID-19: testing and contact tracing and making sure that we have a safe and effective vaccine, and that it is equitably distributed throughout the country and right here in New Hampshire. Let’s get people back to work, back to school and get our communities moving again.”
