Airing Friday morning, the ad focuses on Shaheen helping lead the bipartisan group that negotiated small business funding and Coronavirus relief for more than 23,000 NH small businesses

Concord, N.H. – In a new television ad, the Shaheen campaign spotlights Jeanne Shaheen’s leadership in helping negotiate small business funding for more than 23,000 New Hampshire small businesses during coronavirus. In the ad, which will broadcast on WMUR and cable, workers and small business owners from across New Hampshire thank Senator Shaheen for helping create the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program that has delivered more than $2.5 billion to help more than 23,000 Granite State small businesses stay open, and saving more than 209,000 New Hampshire jobs as of June 30, 2020.

“When the pandemic hit the U.S. economy, Jeanne Shaheen got to work negotiating a small business package that would make a difference for the tens of thousands of New Hampshire small businesses that were affected,” said campaign manager Harrell Kirstein. “Thanks to her bipartisan leadership, more than 23,000 New Hampshire businesses were able to stay open and keep more than 209,000 employees paid during one of the worst economic downturns in our nation’s history. Jeanne Shaheen knows that small businesses are the lifeblood of New Hampshire’s economy, and Granite Staters know she will continue to work across the aisle to ensure that they have the resources they need to get through this.”

The new 30-second television spot features small business owners and workers from both political parties and from communities across New Hampshire, including Tom Boucher of T-Bones, Copper Door and Cactus Jacks restaurants at T-Bones in Hudson, Nicole Carrier at Throwback Brewery in North Hampton, Dan Chartrand at Water Street Bookstore in Exeter, Yahaira Infante at W.H. Bagshaw in Nashua and Shoshanna Kelly of Kelly Creative in Nashua.

Shaheen was one of the four Senate negotiators who created the bipartisan small business response package after the pandemic hit in March, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). PPP has been a lifeline for New Hampshire small businesses and, as of the end of June 2020, 23,011 small businesses in New Hampshire had received more than $2.5 billion from the program, allowing more than 209,000 Granite Staters to keep their jobs. Senator Shaheen has also been calling for transparency of the PPP program since early in its existence, leading Congressional efforts to push for oversight hearings and introducing legislation to require the SBA to report additional data on COVID-19 business relief programs. Shaheen has been praised by Senators in both parties for working across the aisle and negotiating a small business package that has made a difference for communities across the country, and she continues to push for additional resources for small businesses to ensure they can stay afloat.
