Manchester, N.H. – Jeanne Shaheen’s efforts to improve access to affordable health care and lower prescription drug costs are the focus of her campaign’s new television ad. In the ad, which will air on WMUR and on cable starting on Thursday, Shaheen calls out Republicans in Washington for “trying to gut health care for people with pre-existing conditions” in the middle of a pandemic and vows to fight them “every step of the way.”

The ad highlights Shaheen’s leadership in the fight to reduce health care costs in the Senate, featuring her resolution calling on Republicans to stop their assault on health care and the Affordable Care Act and her legislation to expand tax credits while lowering health care costs and expanding access, while spotlighting the legislation she is spearheading to take on big pharmaceutical companies and bring down costs for Granite Staters.

“There’s nothing more reckless than Washington Republicans working to cut health care in the middle of the pandemic, and Jeanne Shaheen is fighting to protect New Hampshire’s care,” said campaign manager Harrell Kirstein. “In the Senate, Jeanne Shaheen is leading efforts to protect Granite Staters with pre-existing conditions while spearheading legislation to expand health care access and lower prescription drug costs. No one fights harder for New Hampshire than Jeanne Shaheen, and she will take on anyone who tries to threaten Granite Staters’ health care.”

Repealing the Affordable Care Act could kick 105,000 Granite Staters off their health care, while threatening protections for 572,000 Granite Staters with pre-existing conditions who rely on the ACA’s protections to access health care.
