POSTAL WORKERS UNION ENDORSEMENT. The American Postal Workers Union, Manchester Local 230, has endorsed Sen. Jeanne Shaheen for re-election to the U.S. Senate, saying that she has long supported the U.S. Postal Service and its workers.

The local represents 800 workers across the state, the Shaheen campaign said Friday.

“Every American depends on the postal service, in rural areas and in cities. Our seniors depend on our postal workers to deliver their prescriptions, and our veterans depend on them for their benefits, and we must protect the USPS and these workers, no matter what,” Shaheen said.

“Even as the Trump administration works to undermine the mission of the USPS, postal workers have remained focused on getting the job done during the pandemic, keeping up with increased demand and making sure Granite Staters receive their mail.”

Dana Colett, president of Local 230, said, “Throughout her career, Senator Jeanne Shaheen has consistently advocated for our postal workers in New Hampshire and fought to protect the Postal Service.

“In the Senate, she has pressed to increase USPS funding, to invest in the infrastructure we depend on and to protect union rights. Most recently, when the Postal Service was under threat, she listened to our concerns and stood with us, demanding the reversal of the harmful proposed changes.”

Shaheen’s campaign says she “continues to push for” $25 billion in additional funding for the Postal Service.
