THIRD AD FOCUS: VETERANS. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen’s third television ad of her reelection campaign shows supportive veterans praising her work for them and their fellow veterans.

The new 30-second ad features Jim Steiner of the U.S. Army Special Forces from Concord, Peter Vellis of the U.S. Navy from Bedford, Dan Proulx of the U.S. Marine Corps from Hudson and Miriam Cahill-Yeaton of the U.S. Air Force from Epsom.

The ad will begin airing Tuesday and will appear on WMUR and cable television, the campaign said.

Shaheen’s campaign said that among the Democratic senator’s initiatives was strong support for the Veterans Choice program. The campaign said she voiced concern to then-President Barack Obama when there were discussions on Capitol Hill about reallocating funds for the program to other programs within the VA.

The campaign also cited her support for a provision to allow veterans to go to private health care providers if they live in a state, such as New Hampshire, without a full-service VA hospital.

“Jeanne Shaheen is making a difference for Granite Staters who served our nation in uniform by boosting health care options and passing tax credits to help businesses hire veterans,” said campaign manager Harrell Kirstein. “She knows that no one who fought for our country should have to face roadblocks when seeking support.”

Shaheen’s campaign has a new reservation of $79,385 in advertising time on WMUR from Aug. 3 through Aug. 9, according to documents filed publicly with the Federal Communications Commission.

Earlier Shaheen ads focused on the opioid issue and the Paycheck Protection Program. Shaheen has minor primary opposition and is expected to face either attorney Corky Messner or retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc in the general election. Messner has so far aired two television ads.
