National Security

Serving on the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees, Jeanne is a strong advocate for our men and women in uniform.

She believes maintaining a modern, prepared military is essential to our national security, and she has worked to strengthen the important defense work performed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Pease Air National Guard Base and to prevent another round of base closures that would put those bases at risk. Jeanne believes that diplomacy is the preferred resolution to potential conflicts and has a particular focus on nuclear nonproliferation. She played a leading role in the passage of the New START Treaty to reduce the threat from nuclear weapons, and believes it is critical that Iran be prevented from developing nuclear weapons.
